ServiceNow CMDB Discovery Engineer

Infopulse welcomes talented professionals to join our team as a ServiceNow CMDB Discovery Engineer.

Areas of Responsibility

  • Implementation of Discovery and Cloud Provisioning and Governance with the Service Now
  • Work with systems managers to ensure that the Discovery tool has the appropriate access and permissions to capture configuration information into CMDB
  • Creation, maintenance, and debugging Discovery jobs/schedules
  • MID Servers deployment, configuring, patching MID Servers, capacity management/balancing
  • Discovery Patterns customizing and troubleshooting
  • Expert advisory in development and administration of ServiceNow infrastructure
  • Advise on options, risk and impacts on business processes and technical architecture
  • Diagnose and isolate incidents through testing and work to develop workarounds and/or fixes for system related issues
  • Develop scripts on the ServiceNow platform to automate tasks and integrations
  • Troubleshooting of patch / release management issues, and upgrades
  • Work on continuous improvement by sharing experiences and knowledge with the team
  • Assist project team and Application Owners to create and validate Service Maps for applications
  • Actively involved in projects including preparing project plans, assigning tasks, monitoring statuses, coordinating efforts, validating team recommendations, integrating efforts into a comprehensive strategy and delivering results on time


  • Proven experience with ServiceNow Discovery, BMC Discovery, or similar discovery tool
  • Excellent understanding of CMDB data models, relationships and help with the readiness of our CMDB for advanced technologies like Cloud services (AWS, MS Azure etc.), Containerization
  • ITIL knowledge
  • CSDM knowledge
  • Experience with WMI, SSH, SNMP, PowerShell, REST, SOAP, and JavaScript
  • ServiceNow platform data structure knowledge: XML, JSON
  • Experience working with LDAP, Active Directory, AzureAD
  • Experience integrating with tools to federate data into the CMDB
  • Intermediate Windows and Unix administration skills
  • Understanding network technologies (routing, switching, firewalling, NAT, load balancing)

  • Ability to provide technical leadership and professional guidance to Customer, team, and vendors
  • ServiceNow Certified System Administrator Certification
  • ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist Certification - Service Mapping, Event Management. (SAM and Cloud Management is a plus)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent experience/ combination of education and experience
