As a Regulatory Advisor at BICS you provide day-to-day regulatory support to the BICS business to ensure compliance with relevant regulation with regards to cloud numbers in all countries where BICS is present or intends to be present.

Areas of Responsibility

• Monitoring and advising on proposed telecommunications laws and regulation in the countries where BICS operates or has interests, with a key focus on Middle East and Africa (MEA)
• Providing comprehensive analysis and support to ensure compliance with national regulatory requirements across assigned countries
• Providing practical regulatory and legal guidance to support the business in developing BICS’ country expansion and service offering strategies
• Liaising with the national telecom regulators and other authorities
• Obtaining and maintaining necessary regulatory licences and authorizations, creating local entities and branches, submitting periodic reports, and responding to regulatory inquiries from authorities, in close cooperation with the business and, where necessary, external counsel
• Collaborating with different departments within BICS (product, security, sales, customer success etc.) to guide them on the regulatory requirements and find innovative solutions to complex regulatory challenges
• Proactively working on regulatory compliance in BICS’ footprint countries and recommending measures to address potential risks for BICS and its customers
• Reviewing supplier and hosting contracts and contributing to the regulatory sections of other commercial agreements
• Developing and implementing internal policies and procedures to ensure BICS operates in full compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and business practices
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of local, regional, and international legislation and regulation impacting BICS’ services

Qualifications

• Background in telecoms regulation is essential
• Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across various levels and cross-functional teams in a multicultural environment
• A solution-driven mindset with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Willingness to ask and answer questions, challenge the status quo, and make an effort to deliver outstanding results
• Fluency in English is required; 

Will be an advantage

• Legal or consulting experience
• Experience in reviewing and developing contracts
• MEA-region experience
• Proficiency in Arabic, French or other widely spoken languages of the MEA-region
